At Big Pine, after listening to Gilbert and Tippet....
First Post while here. Have been writing Morning Pages in a spiral bound notebook. Pages written at least three or four days a week.
A good day, as part of my meditation, in addition to moments in the kayak - has been to spend time listening to conversations from On Being. Reflections on those episodes I have listened to will be topics later.
Favorites have been Hannah Ahrent on Totalitarianism. Hannah's writings discuss loneliness, isolation and fear as the root of the success or the ability of totalitarianism to take hold. This has been echoed recently and the election of the current resident of the WH probably used this to his advantage.
Listening to Cory Booker who talks about spiritual practice for him at the moment is practicing Spanish for 15 minutes every morning and making his bed. I love that and get it - it contributes to momentum. Small things that are part of the overall momentum to "create" - or for him to govern or to represent his constitutes.
I listened to story teller Luiz Alberto Urrea talk about borders. This conversation was part of a book club talk in Stillwater or across the bridge from there in Wisconsin. Timely after the last 90 days where we have witnesses children being ripped from their parents arms. (during this same time the First Ladies parents became citizens as part of "family" or chain immigration issue for this administration).
