As predicted, snow last night.
The Berkman, January 31, 2021. Across the street from St. Mary's Hospital, Mayo Clinic. We have been here in this place since December 6th, 2020. Prior to that a Marriott 3 miles away since November 16th. In this small city in the Midwest north of the Iowa border, with "bad" public television.
We have been on this health care journey since October 22, 2020 when the pet scan indicated Rome's cancer had returned.
You do what is the right thing to do. One foot in front of the other. What is the count? More than 5 biopsies, many covid tests, labs, visits to speech path, two surgeries, resulting in total life change.
4 am early to rise to take Ryder out with as little stimulation and human and other dog encounters as possible. After we return to apartment - unit, as I call it, I often cannot go back to sleep.
Sometimes I feel so sad. Sometimes apprehensive, scared, full of worry and dread. This is what happens to people as they age, or happens to people at any age when health turns bad. I say "challenged" there are challenges when people ask.
"I got this", at what cost? I can only imagine what goes through his mind. I stop, and wonder what he is "cooking" up in his twisted (sorry, this is the way I think of it) mind, his thoughts run riot, what is he planning on that will torture me next. What next? He seems to have little thought or recognition of what I have done or made happen for him to be here and have world class care. At what cost to my and to Ryder.
I have a choice, I have leverage. At times, on the verge of panic - though I mostly don't panic anymore, I catch myself - stop and realize that there is no reason to panic, more shall be revealed, I am even grateful in a perverse sort of way, it could always be worse. Right now during covid, it could be much worse and is for many. Pandemics and the impact to systems, people, have a way of crystalizing for you what "missed" you, where you escaped what could have happened.
In the dark, with Nespresso, my left eye quivers and twitches, remnants of Belles Palsy come alive as a stress reaction?
What makes a good day?
How can I make my goal easier? Evaluate goals, make it so easier I don't need extra motivation to complete. The old adage, can I get it done? Morning Pages I converted to Write Three Pages - though a recent zoom with Julia she was adamant that Morning Pages was the key to a project.
The goal stuff is from Julia and Nicole Bianchi.

Barriers? What is stopping me? Morning Pages challenging sometimes, so then just write three pages.
What is the easiest part of the "project"? What project? Maybe "create" a project? A body of work, art and writing. That is good enough right now.
I have learned much while taking little steps with MindfulnessArtStudio - I did become clearer on how to do art in my setting. Work small, work in series, keep a few art tools ready. More later.
