In one ear, Handel's Water Music, but also playing Lizzo via Spotify - cuz I love you - listened to interview on Fresh Air last night.
At the cabin MSNBC goes away with the daily fire hose of what is going on with drumpf. The switch to MPR, TPT opens new venues or rather, "old" new venues, old friends. really.
Both of us steeped in our local PBS options. I forget how wonderful, inspirational, multi faceted and challenging while being uplifting PBS can be! I live the fact that MPR has advanced and is utilizing different ways to experience music and words.
How about Dvorak - The Water Goblin. Water, water, water, why we are here.
I prefer the lake or the river, I knew this but had to walk the beach in Seaside for months to remember. View from the beach is awesome, often, when we are there, the ocean is gray with a wild surf. Stormy, huge rolling waves, I stay back. Typical Oregon coastal scene.
Objective for summer writing practice is to listen to podcasts - which I am doing now. Jeff Leisowitz writing about creativity. He is talking about the usual stuff, listening, just writing something, trying new things, taking a risk. He is about to say the one piece of advice - mentions the sneaker company - Nike. Just do it. Just do it. Start, make something, create soothing.
He did say, and I have heard this before, but it did resonate more this time hearing it - set a time. Not so much a writing time, but that is part of it like writing morning pages, but more of a commitment to putting in the time. Makes sense for the summer practice - so here we go:
Intention: write 5 hours a week.
Intention: write morning pages
Intention: listen to other writers, creatives, podcasts
Intention: read
Intention: while writing the 5 hours a week include different venues
Intention: create 4 haiku around a sense of place
More of the same, not new news, but maybe resonating? What is my story? Do I have a story? Think about my story, does anyone care? Does it matter if no one cares?
Jeff says creativity is being seen, expressed and healed. Being seen means, to Jeff - noticed or acknowledged first by those who you love and who love you.
