Loft Class - creating place, space and time to write.....

I started the Loft class on Monday - though did do some work over the weekend.   Part of week one was to read some articles the instructor provided - which were good and led to more articles.  There was also class direction about defining time, space, and length of time writing.  It is about creating a discipline of writing.  My goal is to continue writing using the tools I use and also using art journaling.  I want to figure out what to write - an essay, a story, a letter.  Maybe the first task is to "just write".

To introduce ourselves - part of my introduction was to talk about "Julie and Julia" - cooking 524 recipes in 365 days and blogging about it like Julie did.  Of course, watching Julia (Meryl Streep and Stanley Tucci) walk around Paris post WWII as Julia and Paul was wonderful.

I am reading the "Paris Architect" and there is much reference to Paris streets, arrondissements, other descriptions of Paris is really enjoyable.  I can imagine the scenes and and especially like to think of the city during the war.  Though the occupation by the Nazis was awful as it was for many cities in Europe.   That was a terrible time for the city, the world and the people of Paris - but it is also interesting to imagine what it was like to be there.  Of course, I read many stories about WWII.  Lovingly, Mom and Dad were of that generation.

I divert.  This blog entry is about the discipline of writing.  Julie wrote (and cooked).  I write and don't cook.  Part of the missing discipline for me is "content".

What should I write about?  Maybe I should begin with a critique of books I am reading and why I chose them.  That is a good idea.

I am keeping a gratitude journal and writing about what I am grateful for, exercise, and reaching out via the Diaro journal.

Later - planned to write as was my objective for 30 minutes this morning - did not happen due to work.  Fine - I am still a Corporate staff person, if it did not get done before work it will need to be done now.

I heard from my Loft instructor Anna - she agreed that a letter you don't send or a bullet list are good ways to write.   I got side tracked today somewhat, may add to this post later.

Every day I commit to doing something that moves me forward in this "new lifestyle" - last night i did paint in my Moleskin notebook -  the one I purchased in Italy and registered with the Moleskin community.

These sound like such little steps - a little art work ,a little writing, reaching out on LinkedIn -when scores of people are steeped in facebook and reach out constantly.

Still horrified by the political situation in this country.
